Terms and Conditions

Updated: 12 October 2026. These terms apply to new bookings accepted after they have been supplied to the Client. Publishing an update does not change an existing agreement without the required agreement of the parties.

Bookings and contact

The service provider is Sylwia Karolina Janiec, sole trader trading as Bilingual Learning Consultancy (BLC), 2 College Farm, Newbridge, Co. Kildare, Ireland. Email: [email protected]. Telephone: 0873210630.

BLC confirms the programme or appointment, fee, duration, timetable and applicable conditions before acceptance or payment. Individually arranged programmes may be confirmed by email. For a participant under 18, the Client making the booking must be a parent or legal guardian with authority to enter the agreement.

Programme-specific signed agreements set the applicable fees, payment schedule, access period, refund guarantees and termination rules. These general terms do not remove more favourable agreed terms, binding pre-contractual promises or statutory consumer rights.

Prices and payment

Fees and any additional charges are disclosed before booking, in euros and inclusive of applicable taxes. An additional service or charge requires the Client’s express agreement. Instalment arrangements and recurring payments follow the confirmed course agreement. A payment receipt does not replace the agreed cancellation and refund rights.

One-to-one lessons

The agreed fee must be paid before the lesson. BLC will confirm the lesson’s date, time and duration. If you cannot attend, email [email protected] as soon as possible before the appointment. Any minimum notice period or late-cancellation charge must be expressly disclosed and agreed before acceptance and payment.

If you do not attend and give no advance notice, BLC may retain the prepaid fee for the reserved appointment where the teacher was ready and available. Any retained amount must be reasonable and proportionate to the actual loss, taking account of exceptional circumstances, costs avoided and whether the slot was rebooked. This is not an additional penalty and does not override statutory withdrawal, refund or service-remedy rights.

If BLC cancels a lesson, you may choose an agreed replacement or a refund for the undelivered lesson. A credit is not compulsory where a refund is due.

Free consultations and future bookings

There is no charge for a missed free consultation. If you cannot attend, notify BLC before the appointment. Following an unexplained absence without notice from a consultation or paid appointment, BLC may decline further consultation or new lesson-booking requests. BLC will consider explanations and exceptional circumstances fairly and comply with applicable equality law.

This does not cancel existing paid bookings, forfeit unrelated prepaid lessons, or penalise a legitimate complaint, fair criticism or the exercise of statutory rights. Booking requests require BLC’s acceptance.

Foundations course

Leaving Certificate Academy Lite Foundations runs from October 2026 until the end of June 2027. Its signed agreement specifies the EUR120 monthly fee, Friday Google Meet lessons from 18:00 to 19:00 Irish local time, optional monthly Saturday revision, timetable and individual first lesson date. No course payments are due for July or August. The recurring subscription must be stopped at the agreed end of participation; using Stripe does not extend the agreement.

The Foundations agreement offers a separate full-refund guarantee from conclusion of the agreement until the end of a 14-calendar-day trial beginning on the first agreed lesson made available, or agreement conclusion if later. Student absence does not postpone that date. If BLC cancels the first lesson, the trial begins on the agreed replacement, or the Client may cancel beforehand. After the trial, the agreed 30-day notice, final-payment cap and proportional settlement apply. These rules do not impose 30 days’ notice on statutory withdrawal or the full-refund trial.

A place on another programme in the following academic year requires a separate booking or agreement and is subject to availability. There is no automatic renewal.

Statutory withdrawal and refunds

For an eligible service contract concluded at a distance, the statutory cancellation period is normally 14 days from conclusion. To withdraw, send any clear statement to [email protected] before the deadline. The model form below is available but its use is optional.

If you want a paid service to begin within that period, BLC must obtain an express request on a medium you can keep. Any proportionate charge for service supplied before withdrawal, or loss of the statutory right following full performance, applies only where the legal conditions are met. Starting early does not remove the Foundations full-refund guarantee. Ordinary booking notice is separate from statutory withdrawal.

Required refunds are made within 14 days of the relevant cancellation or refund determination, without delaying an earlier legal deadline, using the original payment method unless otherwise agreed and without a refund administration charge. Nothing here excludes remedies where BLC does not provide the promised service.

Where a contract is concluded through an online interface and the law requires an online cancellation function, that function must be made available. An email link or this model form alone does not establish that such a function has been provided.

Model withdrawal form

Complete and return this only if you wish to withdraw. You may instead send a clear email.

Attendance, timetable and service problems

Participants should work regularly, submit assignments in the agreed place and contact BLC about missed materials or access problems. Camera and participation requirements are explained before enrolment, with appropriate arrangements considered where needed. Missing an available group lesson does not by itself create a refund entitlement, subject to trial guarantees and statutory rights.

The agreed timetable identifies lesson dates and breaks. For Foundations, planned changes initiated by BLC receive more than 24 hours’ notice and a reasonable alternative; sudden illness or an outage is notified as soon as reasonably possible. If a suitable replacement cannot be supplied within a reasonable time without significant inconvenience, applicable refund or price-reduction rights remain available.

Online lessons use Google Meet. Participants need suitable equipment and a stable connection. BLC provides reasonable assistance with its own platform and lesson links. Participant-side problems do not automatically entitle the Client to a refund; this does not exclude BLC’s responsibility for its own failures.

Course materials and student work

Course materials remain the property of their respective rights holders and are provided for the participant’s own learning and examination preparation. Sharing, publication or commercial use requires permission unless permitted by law.

Participants retain copyright in their original work. To the extent the Client is entitled to authorise it, BLC has a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, copy and review work for teaching, assessment, feedback, course-related concerns and internal review of anonymous work to improve teaching and future modules. Any additional authorisation needed from the participant or an authorised representative must be obtained.

Only work that cannot reasonably identify its writer or another real person is kept for anonymous internal review. Identifying work or details and identifying links are removed before retention for that purpose. Technical reassignment to an administrator account is for storage only and does not change actual authorship or copyright.

Course participation does not grant automatic permission for publication of student work, marketing or participation in doctoral research. Any separate use requires appropriate information, copyright permissions and any necessary valid consent. Refusal of an optional use does not affect course access, fees or assessment.

Data protection and retention

The GDPR Policy / Privacy Notice explains purposes, lawful bases, providers, retention and individual rights. Necessary data may be handled by payment, video-meeting, platform, hosting and communication providers; consent is not the only possible legal basis.

For school-year examination-preparation participants, the account records and submitted work needed to clarify course-related concerns after results are retained administratively until the end of August of the year that the course ends. Former course accounts and identifying course-work records are deleted at the start of the next school year. Anonymous work may remain for internal review. Limited records required by law or a specific unresolved matter, and security logs and backups, follow the separate necessary retention arrangements explained in the Privacy Notice. Retention does not extend lessons, access or payments, or shorten legal complaint rights.

Changes, conduct and complaints

Material changes require the agreement required by law and the applicable contract; updating a website does not unilaterally change a signed agreement. Remediable breaches receive notice and a reasonable opportunity to resolve them. Serious safety issues or serious repeated misconduct may justify proportionate suspension or termination. Termination does not automatically forfeit all prepaid fees.

BLC teaches with reasonable care and skill but does not guarantee a particular examination grade. Complaints may be sent to [email protected] or made through the business contact details above. BLC responds within 14 days or explains a longer investigation and expected response date. Complaint handling does not suspend statutory deadlines or remedies.

Irish law applies without removing mandatory applicable consumer protections or restricting consumer-jurisdiction rights. Nothing in these terms gives Irish courts exclusive jurisdiction where the consumer is entitled to use another competent court.
